1970s
In 1973, Chew Koh set up a sole proprietorship Kian Soon Hoe Trading Company
to manage his trading and farming business.
The late 1970s saw Singapore’s rapid urbanisation which corresponded with the general decline in chicken farming. This prompted Chew Koh to outsource part of its farming activities to farmers in West Malaysia to ensure a steady supply of live chickens. As his business grew, he ended the egg business to focus on farming and trading live chickens.
